Project Summary
Corning, SCP is a world leader in the manufacture of fiber optic cable for the telecommunications industry.  The new 325,000 square foot facility is a major fiber optic cabling plant.  Optical fiber is received from other Corning plants and is colored, buffered, stranded, jacketed and spooled.  The spools of finished cable are then stored for shipment to customers.  The facility is comprised of a single story production space, with approximately 50,000 square feet of high-bay storage, 40,000 square feet of two story office space and an attached 20,000 square foot covered reel storage shed.  The office area includes a large meeting room for company wide conferences and a cafeteria for plant employees and catered functions.  The lunch room is equipped with a full service kitchen and servery.  The dining room can seat 200.

 

The building is a conventional steel framed structure, with a single ply membrane roof and architectural precast concrete cladding.  It is totally spaced conditioned by roof top package units.  Site work consisted of preparation of the building pad including an area for a 200,000 square foot plant expansion, construction of two entry roads, employee and visitors parking lots, shipping/receiving docks and landscaping.
