Project Summary
The Biorepository is located in Kannapolis, North Carolina, adjacent to the North Carolina Research Campus being developed by David Murdock. This 40,000 square foot concrete tilt up wall and steel framed roof structure will have 11,750 square feet of office space which includes Assessioning and Laboratory spaces. The 28,500 square foot warehouse area will contain 346 freezers which can house up to 10 million research specimens. A 3500 KVA generator to support the facility during power outages was also included in the project. LabCorp of America will run the facility in partnership with Duke University's Translational Medicine Institute. Private companies, Universities and other research institutes will also make use of the facility.
The project is being built in two phases; the first phase includes the office and 9,200 square feet of freezer area.
